A Real Bobby Dazzler

So I'm currently getting my work ready for an exhibition in Scarborough as part of the Coastival Festival. The exhibition will display a series of works by students from ECA that has been self curated by those taking part.

The work I'm planning on exhibiting was created whilst studying at RISD, an installation piece based on continual observation and surveillance. Stepping away from traditional tactile fabrications, my textile practice explores the physical yet inanimate relationship between movement, form and projection whilst maintaining a sense of space and physical awareness.

Discovering the work of Sydney Cash, a glass and projection artist has largely influenced my current work. I began exploring different ways to create digital projections from lighting with the idea that these projections would become interactive prints and textures. I've always been keen to explore projection and the effect it has on the surrounding space and the effect light can have on an interior space.
Work by Sydney Cash.

Initial projections taken from sandblasting hand needle work onto glass panels as an interactive print.
Continuing traditional techniques,in this case knitting, I sandblasted samples onto glass bottles that then became an interior wallpaper projection.

I'm excited to continue exploring the relationship between traditional textiles and other mediums.

Here's hoping it all goes to plan!
